A nine-week family journey from the first Thursday of November to New Year’s Day that turns Thanksgiving into the start of Christmas, and gratitude into generosity.
For families, friends, and people on their own.
The lights are up and the music is on, but most of us inherited an unwritten instruction manual for Christmas: buy for everyone, make a list, keep it even, don't show up empty-handed. It tells our hands what to do and skips the heart. Advent Overflow keeps everything good about the season and changes where it starts.
Think of one person who made your life better this year. Picture their face and name what they did. Did you feel a tug, something like I should tell them? That tug is the overflow, and it's what this whole program is built on.
You can't force yourself to feel generous, but you can practice what grows it. Picture your life as a tree. Gratitude is the leaf that catches the light, and generosity is the fruit that feeds someone else. So we spend November noticing what we've been given and thanking the people who gave it. Then December gives back.
At the center is a paper tree your family builds together. Every practice points back to it.
The repetition is on purpose. It's how a practice turns into a habit, and it means you never have to work out what comes next. You just look at the calendar. In November, weeks start on Monday, so Thursday is the celebration. We call them Thankful Thursdays.
Three days to take it in, one to celebrate, three to give.
The name faces out. The reason faces the wall, private until it is read.
Nine weeks, from the first Thursday of November to January 4. No Hurry = No Worry.
See what you have been given and who gave it.
Pass it on with your time, resources, and words.
Advent Overflow is built for families, couples, small groups, and people who live alone. It is rooted in the life and teaching of Jesus, and you do not need to be an expert at anything. If you are tired of a season that leaves you drained, and you want one with a rhythm you can actually keep, this is for you.
Each part of the season has its own chapter page with the daily readings, ideas, and actions. Pages open as they are published.
The big idea, the four practices, and how to set up your home.
November 5 to 30. Prepare, Improvement, Important, Impairment, Thanksgiving, and Left Overs.
Yes. No Hurry = No Worry. The Left Overs days after Thanksgiving are there for finishing notes, and a plan only has to be good enough to follow.
Beyond the Guide itself, the supplies are paper, tape, pens, and a way to print photos. December adds green paper, small paper shapes, and candles.
The program is rooted in the life and teaching of Jesus. The Cosmos day, which looks at the gifts nobody arranged, is open to people from any background.
You can gather a Core, keep a Core at a distance by phone or video, or go through it with no Core.
Wanderful Woods is a storybook that carries the daily ideas, and an optional Workbook gives them a place to write and draw.
Three days to receive, one to celebrate, and three to give. Every week runs the same way, so the rhythm is easy to keep.
Advent Overflow begins Thursday, November 5, 2026. Give thanks, then give back.
